Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian women's tennis team opened Crossroads League play today, hosting Saint Francis (Ind.) at the Healthplex. The Knights took the 7-0 win over the Cougars on Senior Day. After the win, Marian is now 3-3 overall on the season and 1-0 in the Crossroads League.
Marian got off to an early start, claiming the quick doubles point with
Michelle Irigoyen and
Jimena Rivera Flores taking a quick 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Liliane Alinquant and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez followed up with a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Emma Chrome wrapped up doubles with a 6-1 win at No. 1.
With the quick doubles win, Rivera Flores took an easy pair of 6-0 wins at No. 3 singles, followed by Irigoyen, who also recorded a pair of 6-0 wins at No. 2 singles. Imamniyazova was the next to finish, extending the Knights' lead to four with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
With the 4-0 lead,
Elisa Roccaforte continued to extend Marian's lead with her 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Chrome was the next to finish with her 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while
Maggie Bertram wrapped up the match with a pair of 6-0 wins.
Marian will be back in action as they travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina for spring break where they will continue Crossroads League play taking on Spring Arbor on Monday, March 2nd with doubles action starting at 8:30 AM.
