Hilton Head, S.C. - The Marian women's tennis team began its spring break trip with a 6-1 win over Crossroads League foe Spring Arbor. Following the win, Marian moves to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the Crossroads League.
The Knights got off to an early start with Lilianne Alinquant and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez taking an easy 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Michelle Irigoyen and Jimena Riviera Flores followed up by recording the 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. After earning the doubles point,
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Lopez Torres went unfinished at No. 1 doubles with a 5-3 lead.
Following their doubles point, Lopez Torres extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, followed by Irigoyen's pair of 6-1 wins at No. 3 singles. Marian continued to extend their 3-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles for Imamniyazova.
Alinquant was the next to finish with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, extending the lead 5-0. Riviera Flores continued to extend the lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Barbosa Fernandez wrapped up the match falling 5-7, 6-4, 0-1(6) at No. 4 singles.
The Knights will be back in action tomorrow, March 3rd, continuing Crossroads League play as they take on Mount Vernon Nazarene in Hilton Head, S.C., with doubles action starting at 9 AM.
