Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team fell to D1 foe Butler on Friday evening. After the loss, Marian moves to 1-1 in the early season.
Butler got off to an early lead with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles over
Marc Soriano and
Iyan Cresens. Butler continued their steam with a 6-1 win over
Marcos Ramos Cabrera and
Jan Bartolome. With Butler earning the point at doubles,
James Ashworth and
Mateo Guerin's match went unfinished with a score of 3-2 in favor of the Bulldogs.
In singles action, Butler extended their lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Juan Garcia-Tunon. With the Bulldogs in a 2-0 lead over the Knights,
Marc Soriano fought back going to three sets, falling 0-6, 7-5, 3-6 at No. 3 singles. Butler sealed the deal at No. 5 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win over
Bogdan Precupescu.
James Ashworth,
Mateo Guerin, and
Marcos Ramos Cabrera all went unfinished falling 4-0 to Butler.
The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, February 12th, as they host Oakland City with doubles action starting at 12:30 PM.
