Box Score St. Louis, Mo. - The Marian men's tennis team lost its second consecutive match on Saturday night, February 14, as the Knights fell on the road against No. 16 Missouri Baptist by a 5-2 score. The result of the match, played at Vetta West Racket Sports, dropped Marian to 1-2 on the season.

Marian was unsuccessful at doubles, dropping the first point of the evening as Missouri Baptist won on the one and two courts. Iyan Cresens and Marc Soriano won their matchup at No. 3 doubles, taking a 6-4 game. Both of the Knights' losses in doubles came in 7-5 scores.

On the singles deck, the Spartans quickly won the first three of six matches, locking in a clinching score over Marian to take victory. Mateo Guerin was unsuccessful at No. 2 as he fell 6-2, 6-1, and at No. 3, Marc Soriano fell 6-4, 6-1. Marcos Ramos Cabrera played at No. 4 singles for the Knights and battled but ultimately was not able to stave off Missouri Baptist's clinching rally, as he fell 6-3, 6-4. 

Marian would win at No. 5 and No. 6 before the match concluded, as Bogdan Precupescu recorded a 6-4, 6-1 win as the fifth singles player, while Juan Garcia-Tunon earned a 6-2, 6-4 win as the number six singles player. James Ashworth finished the match for Marian, but was unsuccessful on the No. 1 singles court, losing 6-4, 6-3.

Marian returns to action on Monday afternoon, beginning a three-match week with a 12:00 p.m. contest against No. 19 Cumberland University. The match will be played at the Farmers Bank Fieldhouse in Lebanon.
