JACKSON, Mich. - Coming off the Marian baseball team's dominant 4-0 weekend in Tennessee, the Crossroads League has named the Knights'
Hector Corona as the league's Player of the Week. The honor is the first in the career for the second-year Knight.
Corona had back-to-back multi-homer games for Marian in a doubleheader sweep of Bryan and powered the Knights to a four-game series sweep by hitting .467 with four home runs, five extra-base hits, 13 runs batted in and six runs scored. Of the four home runs, the sophomore hit a three-run blast in addition to a grand slam in game two of the series, and logged an OPS of 1.912 over the weekend. The third baseman also recorded a stolen base.Â
Marian will return to the diamond next weekend, traveling south to play a four-game series of nine-inning contests against No. 3 Southeastern. Games one and two of the series will be played on Friday, February 20.Â
