Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team fell to No. 10 Huntington in a ranked match-up. After the loss, the Knights move to 9-8 overall on the year and 3-2 in the Crossroads League.
The Knights opened up doubles play as
Mateo Guerin and Juan Garcia-Tunon took the 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. The Foresters fought back with a 6-3 win over
James Ashworth and
Marcos Ramos Cabrera at No. 1. The Knights were able to record the doubles point with
Iyan Cresens and
Marc Soriano taking the tough-fought 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Huntington quickly tied up the match with a 6-3 and 6-2 win over
Bogdan Precupescu at No. 6. Guerin put up a fight at No. 3 singles but fell 6-3, 7-6 (4) to the Foresters. After taking the 2-1 lead over Marian, Huntington was able to extend their lead with a 7-5 and 6-4 win over Soriano followed by a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Garcia-Tunon at No. 5. The Foresters were able to extend their lead with a 4-6, 6-3, and 6-2 win over Ashworth at No. 1 followed by their final 6-2, 6-7(0), and 6-2 win over Ramos Cabrera at No. 4.
Marian looks to bounce back from their loss as they take on (RV) Bethel on Wednesday, April 1st at 2 PM at Avon High School.
