Savannah, Ga. - The Marian women's tennis team fell to No. 9 LSU-Alexandria on Wednesday afternoon. After the loss, Marian moves to 5-4 overall on the season and 3-0 in the Crossroads League.
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Lopez Torres got off to a great start, winning doubles No. 1 6-4, but
Michelle Irigoyen and
Jimena Rivera Flores fell 6-4 at doubles No. 2, leveling the playing field. LSU-Alexandria was able to take the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Lilliane Alinquant and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez at doubles No. 3.
With the doubles point LSU-Alexandria extended their lead with a pair of 6-2 wins at No.4 over Barbosa Fernandez followed by Irigoyen's 6-2, 6-3 loss at No. 3. LSU-Alexandria were able to take the 4-0 win with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Lopez Torres at No. 2. Three matches went unfinished in the game, Imamniyazova (6-2, 4-3), Rivera Flores (5-7, 1-4), and
Paloma Caceres Villalba (3-6, 5-4).
Marian will be back in action tomorrow as they take on No. 12 SCAD-Savannah with doubles action starting at 10 AM.
