Box Score Savannah, Ga. - The Marian women's tennis team fell to No. 12 SCAD-Savannah in a tough 4-3 battle Friday afternoon. After the loss, Marian moves to 5-5 overall on the season and 3-0 in the Crossroads League.
Yasmine Imamniyazova and
Ana Lopez Torres fell 6-3 to open up doubles play.
Liliane Alinquant and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez fought hard at No. 3 doubles with their 7-6, 9-7 win to tie up the match. The Bees were able to push back with a 7-6, 7-4 win against Michelle Iriogyn and
Jimena Rivera Flores to take the doubles point.
Opening up singles play,
Paloma Caceres Villalba took a pair of 6-1 wins at court No. 6 to tie up the match 1-1. Imamniyazova took the lead for the Knights with her 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1. Alinquant extended the lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5.
The Bees pushed back at Marian's 3-1 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lopez Torres at No. 2, followed up by a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win at No. 4. SCAD-Savannah clinched the match with a tough fought 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Iriogyn at No. 3.
The Knights will be back in action on Friday, March 20th, as they host Goshen College at 3 pm at the Healthplex.
