JACKSON, Mich. - The Marian baseball team earned its first Crossroads League Player of the Week honor this season on Monday afternoon, as freshman
River Pecina was tabbed as this week's best player in the league by the conference's sports information directors.
Pecina collected eight hits in nine at bats and reached base in 10 of 11 plate appearances for RV Marian in a doubleheader sweep at Goshen on Sunday afternoon. The freshman homered twice, doubled once, and drove in six runs during a game one drumming of the Maple Leafs, and scored eight times in the doubleheader, as the Knights piled up 44 runs in the sweep.
The Knights play IU-Kokomo on Tuesday and host No. 24 Huntington this weekend in Crossroads League play.
