Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian women's lacrosse team took a commanding 21-4 win over the Madonna University Crusaders improving their record to 6-3 overall on the year and 4-1 in the Wolverine Hoosier-Athletic Conference. In the win the Knights head coach
Allie Storke-Sneed recorded her 50th career win.
The Knights got off to an early lead with
Taleah Nool and
Ruby Mason both recording a goal in the opening five minutes of the first quarter. Madonna was able to fire back with a goal with 10 minutes remaining in the quarter. Marian was quick to fire back with a commanding nine goals taking the 11-1 lead going into the second quarter. In the run
Rylie Boezeman and
Allyson Cissell each recorded one goal while,
Sydney Hartman,
Ella Grace Giedd, and
Alex Dean each recorded two a piece.
Opening up the second quarter Madonna was able to fire off a pair of goals bringing the Knights lead down to eight with eight minutes remaining in the quarter. The remainder of the quarter Marian continuing their dominating charge with a trio of goals from,
Delaney Koles, Giedd, and Hartman extending their lead 14-3 going into halftime.
Out of the half the Knights recorded another trio of goals from Dean,
Esbeydi Montes, and Mason to increase their lead to 14. Madonna attempted to push back with a goal but Marian was quick to counter with a pair of goals from Mason and Koles ending the quarter 19-4. In the final quarter of play Marian was able to strike once more with a pair of goals from Dean and Mason ending the game with a 21-4 win over Madonna.
In the win
Ruby Mason led the way recording five goals and one assists on the day. She also led the way with 10 draw controls in the game.
Alex Dean recorded four goals while,
Sydney Hartman and
Ella Grace Giedd each recorded a hat trick.
Delaney Koles was able to record a brace as well as one assist.
Taleah Nool and
Esbeydi Montes led the way in assists each recording a pair while also recording one goal each. Alex and
Olivia Dean led the way in ground ball recoveries each recording four and also led the way in caused turnovers with two.
In goal
Aniyah Jones took the win allowing three goals and recorded one save playing the entire first half.
Marissa Bardo came in as relief in the third quarter recording one save and one goal allowed.
Addison Marsh finished off the game playing in the final quarter recording one save.
Marian will be back in action on Wednesday, April 8th as they travel up to Grand Rapids, Mich. to take on Aquinas College at 4 PM.
