Fort Wayne, Ind. - The Marian softball team defeated the Huntington Foresters for the second time in the Crossroads League Tournament on Thursday evening. After the win the Knights advance in the Tournament playing Spring Arbor and move to 34-15 on the season.
Marian struck first with a single of the middle from
Abby Madere to score
Abbey Hofmann and take the one run lead. Both teams held each other scoreless into the fourth inning before Huntington pushed back at the Knights lead with a runner scoring off of a sacrifice fly. The Foresters were able to strike again in the fifth inning, taking the lead after an RBI ground out bringing the score 2-1.
Marian was quick to take back the lead with a double from Hofmann and a single from
Delaney Rundle to take the 3-2 lead. Huntington was quick to counter with a steel at home plate, tying the game up once more at three apiece. After holding the Forrester scoreless in the seventh,
Ally Malone hit a double to get on base followed up by a walk-off sacrifice fly from
Haley Webb to take the 4-3 win over the Foresters.
Abbey Hofmann and
Delaney Rundle let the way each going 2-3 from the plate and each recording an RBI.
Abby Madere and
Haley Webb each recorded an RBI as well in the win.
Macy Coan took the start in the circle pitching all seven innings and striking out 3 batters.
Marian will be back in action tomorrow as they take on Spring Arbor with first pitch set for 11 AM.
