SILVIS, Ill. - After an up-and-down opening round, the Marian men's golf team caught fire in the second round on Wednesday, jumping up the leaderboard to make the cut at the NAIA National Championship. Marian's jump on cut day jumped them 10 positions to sit in fifth after 36 holes, while
Lane Zedrick moved into the individual runner-up position.
The tremendous play of
Lane Zedrick helped the Knights jump up the leaderboard on Wednesday, as the junior spiked into the runner-up position with a one-under-par 69 in round two. Zedrick's 69 brings him to even par for the week, while the round score brings him to second place for the tournament. Zedrick is two shots behind Oklahoma City's Carter Ray on the overall leaderboard.

Augie Mann and
Weston Ogden, as each senior played a hand in helping the Knights gain ground on the leaderboard. Mann had the better of the two rounds of Ogden and carded an even-70, moving to 25th overall at six-over for the week. Ogden shot a 71 on Wednesday, as his second round score brings him to seven-over for the week and 34th place.
Brody Holubar's score rounded out Marian's team efforts on Wednesday, as he shot a 76, five strokes better than Tuesday's opening round, ending the day at +17 and 124th overall.
Nolan Potter's 79 on Wednesday did not play into the team score, as he enters the third round in 103rd individually, sitting at +15.
Marian ended round one on Tuesday with a 299 score, and on Wednesday, the team shot a 286, dropping 13 strokes off their opening round to gain 10 positions on the leaderboard. Marian's strong play ended the day with a 585 total, moving into fifth place. The Knights trail USAO by two strokes, and lead Grand View and MidAmerica Nazarene by a pair. Oklahoma City University has the overall lead with a 568 after 36 holes of golf.
Making the cut for the second time in the last three years, Marian will look to gain ground and move into the top four during Thursday's third round.
