Lane Zedrick Completes NAIA Third Round as Individual Leader; Knights Hold Fifth Place as Team

Silvis, Ill. - After making the cut on Wednesday, the Marian men's golf team continued to roll as the NAIA National Championship Third Round played out on Thursday, seeing the Knights hold steady in fifth place in the championship field. Marian had a pair of under-par rounds from its top two golfers, with Lane Zedrick highlighting the efforts as he ended the third round as the individual leader in the clubhouse.

After firing a one-under 69 in Wednesday's second round, the Marian men's golf team received another stellar performance from Lane Zedrick on Thursday, as the junior continued to own the golf course at TPC Deere Run. Zedrick opened his round with a one-under front nine, and on the turn, two birdies helped the junior make up for a pair of bogeys, ending the round with a 69 score for the second consecutive day. The hot play from Zedrick moved him up one position on the leaderboard, as he took the individual lead at the national championship.

Zedrick enters the NAIA Championship final round as the overall leader, the first Knight to ever hold the position entering the last day of the tournament.

Behind Zedrick's impressive 69, Weston Ogden fired another strong score, going under par for the first time in the tournament as he shot a team-best 68 in the third round. Ogden finished the front nine two-under, and exchanged a bogey on the 12th hole for a birdie on the 17th during the back nine, carding his 68 to move to five-over for the week. Ogden's round vaulted him into 12th place at the conclusion of the third round, sitting outside the top-10 by one stroke entering the tournament's final 18 holes.

Brody Holubar shot his best round of the week with a 75 on Thursday, moving up to 75th place with a +22 total on the week. Augie Mann's 77 counted toward Marian's score on Thursday, as he dropped to 46th overall, sitting with a total scorecard of +13. Nolan Potter ended the third round with a 77 as well, moving up the leaderboard into 75th as he is 22-over par entering the last round.

As a team, Marian remains in fifth place overall, shooting a 289 during Thursday's round. The Knights moved into fourth during their front nine play, but would slide back to fifth, ending the day two-shots behind Lindsey Wilson and Hastings, who are both tied for third. Oklahoma City remains in the lead with their 860 score, and Friends University is in second place with an 866 team score. Marian's total team score for the week is 874, two strokes better than MidAmerica Nazarene.

Marian will tee off the final round of the NAIA National Championship on Thursday, aiming to get into the top-three while Zedrick aims to become Marian's first-ever individual national champion.
