Matt Burleton returned to his alma mater in July of 2023, returning to Marian to serve as the pitching coach. 

One of the best pitchers in the modern era of Marian baseball, Burleton holds Marian's record for career appearances with 63 outings. For his career as a Marian pitcher, Burleton posted a 25-18 record with 8 saves, carrying a 2.52 ERA in 318.1 innings. Burleton was twice a Crossroads League First Team pitcher, winning Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore. An NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honoree in 2017, Burleton was one of the nation's leaders in ERA with a 1.17 ERA, winning eight games while making three saves. Finishing his Marian career, Burleton logged 105.1 innings in 17 appearances, holding a 1.37 ERA with an 8-2 record. 

After graduating from Marian in 2019 with a degree in business marketing, Burleton pitched professionally in the Frontier League for the Joliet Slammers and the Evansville Otters. After his playing career, Burleton joined the Wes Whisler Baseball Academy in February of 2021 to help train and develop young pitchers, and also spent time on the Lawrence Central coaching staff as the varsity pitching coach. Burleton also spent time at Anderson University as a pitching coach for the Ravens before stepping away for personal reasons.
