BIO

  • Greg Whalen is in his second season as the offensive line coach at Marian University in 2020.
  • In 2020-21, Whalen coached a young group that featured one upperclassman on the starting offensive line, while freshman tackles started on both sides of the line. 
  • Whalen helped guide an offense that ranked No. 10 in passing offense per game in 2020-21 as well as the No. 20 offense in total offense per game.
  • Led one of the top offensive lines in the NAIA in 2019, ranking second in the NAIA in sacks allowed, allowing six sacks all season
  • Guided an offensive line that helped Marian rank No. 10 in the NAIA in rushing
  • Coached NAIA All-American Tyler Lotz in 2019 and had four of five lineman earn All-Conference honors
  • Coached two seasons (2017-2018) at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois prior to working at Marian
  • Coached two All-American lineman at North Central and helped coach North Central's first All-American First Team Running Back 
  • Led the CCIW in rushing and sacks allowed in back to back seasons
  • Prior to North Central coached two seasons as the offensive line coach (Dec. 2014 - Feb. 2017) at Aurora University.
  • Worked as the academic coordinator, equipment manager, and the SAAC representative for the athletic department in addition to his coaching duties at Aurora
  • Helped Aurora lead the NACC in rushing in both 2015 and 2016
  • Served as a defensive line and tight end grad assistant in 2014 at Aurora
  • Played four seasons at North Central College prior to joining the coaching ranks
  • Started 34 games and was a team captain, helping advance North Central to the NCAA DIII Semifinals as a senior
  • Earned All-CCIW First Team as a junior and senior
