Retired Army Sergeant First Class Henry Brown is now in his 10th as Running Back coach at Marian University

  • Brown has spearheaded a Running Back Corps that has gone on to set school records. Brown was instrumental in the development of Tevin Lake as the go-to back for the Knights from 2011-14. Lake owns the team's single-season school records for rushing yards (1,594) and rushing touchdowns (18). He rushed for 18 scores in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Lake also owns the school record for career rushing yards with 2,842 yards in two seasons. In 2014 Lake was named the MSFA Mideast League Offensive Player of the Year after he amassed more than 1,000 rushing yards for the fourth straight season. Lake finished his career as the NAIA's fifth all-time leading rusher and the fifth all-time leading scorer in the organization's history.
  • Brown also provided outstanding leadership in 2019 as Charles Salary was named the NAIA Player of the Year, becoming the first Marian player to ever win the award. Salary finished his career No. 2 all time in rushing yards, attempts, and touchdowns, while ranking first in rushing yards per game.
  • Brown has led four players to All-American honors, two players to Conference Offensive Player of Year titles, and six players to All-Conference honors.
  • Prior to Marian, Brown had coaching stops in Columbus, Ohio at Afrocentric Highschool, Linden McKinney High School, and Mifflin School. Brown also made brief stops in Hawaii and Europe.
