Scott Power is beginning his first season as defensive coordinator for the 2012 NAIA Football national champion Knights. Power comes to Marian University from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and brings extensive coaching and playing experience to Indianapolis. He will also serve as the recruiting coordinator for the Knights.

Power served as an assistant coach at Wartburg College for the past four seasons. He served as defensive line caoch in 2009 and 2010 before moving to the linebackers coach spot in 2011 and 2012. During his time at Wartburg, Power coached four All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) First Team selections, two NCAA Division III All-Americans and two NCAA Division III All-West Region players.

Power, whose defense set a single-season school record for fewest rushing yards allowed in 2012, coached the IIAC's top-ranked total defense and rushing defense and had a defense that also led the IIAC with the most tackles for loss, most sacks and fewest opponent first downs last season. His defense also led the IIAC in scoring defense and was the second-best total defense in 2011. In 2010, Power's defense led the Knights to an IIAC championship and the NCAA Division III playoffs after a perfect 10-0 regular season. The Knights were ranked 11th in the final AFCA poll and had three wins over top 20 opponents. During his time at Wartburg, the Knights went a combined 30-11, earned an IIAC title and a post-season appearance. Power also served as a lecturer in the department of physical education, served as the team's equipment and apparel coordinator, assistant video coordinator and assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Prior to his tenure with Wartburg, Power served as the defensive coordinator for Benton Central High School in Oxford, Ind., during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He helped lead BC to its first regular season winning record since 2003 and led a defense that broke nine school records and tied eight other school records. He coached 10 all-conference first team players, nine players who earned all-state recognition and had five all-area first team players.

Power was a two-year starter at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville from 2000-01 before transferring to Hanover College where he spent two seasons. He was a member of the 2002 and 2003 HCAC champion Panthers who earned NCAA Division III playoff appearances in each season. He was an All-HCAC first team pick in 2002 and 2003 and was an all-america nominee. He led the HCAC in tackles in 2003 and finished second in tackles for loss in 2002.

After his time at Hanover, Power spent a season with the European Football League's Turku Trojans in Finland. He was part of a team that went 11-1 and earned a berth in the 2004 Maple Bowl, which is the championship game of the SAJL. He returned to the U.S. in 2005 and spent three seasons playing in the Arena Football League where his teams earned three straight playoff appearances.

Power is a graduate of Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis where he earned a bachelor's degree in management and economics.

He resides in Indianapolis.
