Castro joins Marian after five years as the head coach at Indiana Fire Juniors in Westfield, Indiana. In 2017 he coached and trained the girls' 2003 ECNL team to a national Sweet 16 berth, which came a year after leading the 1998 team to the 29th overall ranking in the nation. Castro also spent 14 seasons as a club soccer coach at Carmel United Soccer Club.

He is no stranger to the collegiate game and is certainly not a stranger to the Crossroads League. Castro enjoyed a successful 11-year run as the head coach of Indiana Wesleyan's men's soccer team from 2004-14. While at IWU, he led the Wildcats to a 144-78-14 record and a No. 4 national ranking in 2014. He was named the Crossroads League Coach of the Year three times and earned the same award for the NCCAA Midwest three times. Castro was instrumental in developing the Wildcats into a program of national prominence and he also served as the Vice-Chair for the National Christian College Athletic Association Men's Soccer division.

Castro has also made stops at Brebeuf Jesuit High School as the varsity boys' soccer coach and was the founder and director of Spectre Soccer Club in DeKalb, Illinois. He is a United States Soccer Federation "A" licensed coach and is a member of the American Sports and Fitness Association and certified in speed and agility instruction.
