INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian Knights dance team began their competitive season on Saturday night, winning their first ever competition in the Knight Invite, hosted by Marian. Marian finished first out of four teams in the field, returning to competition for the first time since the 2018-19 season.

Marian won the competition with an aggregate score of 75.2 points, beating out Aquinas College who finished 70 points. Marian received a 72.5 score from judge one, receiving seven points in deductions. Judge two scored Marian with a 76.6, and judge three scored the Knights with a 78. Marian then finished with a raw total score of 234.1, which was dropped to 227.1 with deductions. The Knights then finished with a subtotal of 75.7 points, and ended with their total score of a 75.2. 

Saint Xavier finished in third with a total score of 58.1, and Lawrence Tech rounded out the field with a 49.63 score. 

Marian will look to repeat their success next weekend at the Aquinas competition.
