Knights Dominate Foresters in 3-0 Sweep

INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian volleyball team made quick work of Huntington Friday night, notching their third Crossroads League win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of the Foresters. It's Marian's 13th straight victory over the Foresters and is the Knight's eighth three-set victory of the year, improving their record to 11-0 overall while holding a 3-0 record in Crossroads League play.

Marian opened up the match with 25-17 win in the opening set, starting the night by trading points with the Foresters. A kill by Jaymison Summers sparked Marian's offense as they went on to score the next six points, giving the Knights the 16-9 lead. A kill by Huntington would end the run, but a few errors by the visitors and a kill by Averi Lanman and Madison Brooks pushed the Knights out to a 21-14 lead. Marian continued their tear in the first set, holding the Foresters to only three more points and going on to take the first set.

The Knights jumped out to an early 12-4 lead before Huntington was able to strike back with a kill and a service ace. However, Marian would answer back with seven straight points of their own behind kills from Jai-Lyn Norwood and Summers, and a block from Brooks and Summers. Marian only allowed their opponent six more points in the set, while finishing the set 25-12.

The third set was no different from the first two as the Knight dominated the Foresters, allowing only 15 points in the set. Huntington got out to early 5-3 lead, but the that lead would not last long as the Knights wasted no time returning the favor. After a couple errors by Huntington, a Norwood kill and an Emma Lyons service ace, the Knights tied things up at 6-6. Marian continued the momentum the remainder of the set, powering through their opponent behind the kills of Summers, Skyler Van Note, Gabby Fish, and Norwood. Marian took set three with ease, winning 25-15 to take the set and match.

Marian had 36 kills to Huntington's 21 on the night. For the Knights, Van Note led the team in kills with 10, while also picking up seven digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Summers added eight kills in the win, while Norwood had seven kills and five digs, and Fish added six kills. Gianna Feld led the team on the defensive end, collecting 11 digs, while Katie Hardegree added nine, and Lyons had six. Feld and Sydney Schaffer did work from the service line, serving up three and two aces, while Hardegree and Lyons each added one.

The Knights return to action tomorrow at 1 PM as they host Goshen.
