INDIANAPOLIS – Coming off a successful business trip in Missouri, going 2-0 during the trip, the No. 4 Marian women's soccer team was back at home as they welcomed the University of St. Francis (Ill.) to town for a showdown under the lights at St. Vincent Field. The Knights picked up the easy 4-0 victory over the Saints to improve to 5-0-1 on the season.
The Knights came out the gates strong in the first half, posting eight shots by controlling a majority of the possession, and allowing the Saints only one shot. Smith and the Knights continued their search for a goal with Smith firing off the next two shots, with both going wide.
In the 28 minute of the match, Erin Oleksak got in on the action, as she booted one on goal that would bounce off the goalie and land at the feet of Stephanie Ramos who capitalized, notching it in the back of the net to score her first career goal. With the Knights leading 1-0, Delaney Taylor tried a shot of her own at the 38:17 mark, but was unable to execute as the USF goalie made the save. Not much later, Smith attempted her third shot and the team's last shot of the half, but with the goalie making the save yet again.
Marian continued their offensive tear after the break, firing off 12 shots and wasting no time, as Naomi Walters received the assist from Delaney Taylor to add another one on the board for the Knights, giving them the 2-0 lead. The Knights did not let up as Oleksak, Smith, Walters, Corro Celma, Kiley Jones, and Camryn Gietl all fired off attempts of their own. At the 67:41 mark, Oleksak got her first goal of the match off the assist from Decker, before moments later when Oleksake took another attempt that would hit the crossbar.
