LACONIA, Ind. – The Marian women's golf team got off to a good start at the Crossroads League Championships, holding the lead through the first two competed rounds. Marian leads Taylor by 10 strokes entering the final round and hold two golfers in the top-five.
On the opening day, teams played 36 holes, with Marian and Taylor separating themselves as the top-two teams in the Crossroads League. Marian carded a 300 in the opening round, four strokes ahead of Taylor to hold the lead after round one. In round two, the Knights shot six strokes better than the Trojans to hold the 10-stroke lead to sit +14 with 590 score after the first two rounds.
Indiana Wesleyan is not to far behind the leaders with a 609, while Bethel is in fourth with a 617 and Grace in fifth with 622.
Individually, Marian had great performances from all five players on the opening day, with each Knight placing in the top-10 or better through the first 36 holes. Ava Hedrick leads Marian in first place overall, shooting a 72 in the opening round and a 73 in the second for a 145 score, holding in a tie for the top spot.
Not far behind Hedrick is Sidney Parmer, who holds in fourth place after two rounds. Parmer carded a 75 in round one before improving in round two by shooting a 72 to finish with a 147 score.
MacKendzie Dresbaugh and Elizabeth Hedrick were in a tie for seventh after the two rounds, totaling a 149 score. Dresbaugh finished with a 77 in the first round and a 72 in round two, while Hedrick scored 76 and 73. Keara Eder sits in a tie for ninth after day one with her 152 score, shooting a 79 in round one and 73 in round tow.
Marian will aim to win the Crossroads League Championship tomorrow, as play resumes with the final round on Tuesday morning.
