INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's soccer developmental team earned a 4-0 shutout victory on Thursday afternoon, taking down Huntington. The Knights victory moves them to 3-2-1 on the season.
Marian was first to get on the scoreboard, as
Hugo Benavente fired one off that bounced off the goalie and to the foot of
William Anders who blasted it in the back of the net. The Knights added to their lead at the 5:44 mark after
Nicholas Merrion booted one past the Huntington keeper to carry the 2-0 advantage after the first 45 minutes of play. With 25:41 remaining in the second half, Anders blasted one in goal to score his second of the game the Knights' third.
Spencer McCumber scored the final goal of the match with under a minute to play to end the match 4-0.
The Knights got strong action in goal from
Henry Yoder, as he gave up to scores to record the shutout.
Marian will next be in action on Monday as they travel to Manchester College at 5 p.m.
