Crawfordsville, Ind. - The Marian men's track and field team dominated the competition in their first meet of the second semester, claiming multiple wins on the day in the small field comprised of the Knights and four NCAA DIII institutions. Marian's big day was highlighted by
Isaiah Tipping's school record and NAIA-leading mark set in the weight throw.
Isaiah Tipping was one of the highlights throughout the day, as Marian won 11 of the 15 events in the Robert Johnson Open. Tipping broke a school record and became the top thrower in the NAIA in the weight throw with his new school record of 19.96 meters.
Jacob Netral attempted to equal his teammate, becoming the NAIA's top thrower this season in the shot put while breaking the Marian school record with an 18.11 meter distance.
Additionally, Marian earned wins in the 60m, 200m, and 800m, while also winning the 60m hurdles and both the 4x200m and 4x400m relays. In addition to the racing wins, Marian earned wins in the high jump, triple jump, and pole vault. New NAIA standards were hit in the meet, with
Blake Hipkiss earning a B standard mark in the mile, while
Tristan Trevino earned a B standard in the 800m. Marco Keys earned an NAIA A standard in the weight throw, the first of his career.
