Marion, Ind. - The Marian men's track and field team had a dominant weekend as they closed their regular season, winning the 119th Annual Little State Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan. Marian scored 195.5 points as a team, with their throwers dominating with a sweep of victories.
On the track Marian earned wins in the 100m and 800m, as
Jeremiah Brown put up a 10.61 time to win the sprint and
Tristan Trevino clocked a 1:54.53 time to claim the mid-distance race.
Olivier Lifrange earned a pair of top-three placements in the 100m and 200m, while Trevino would later finish fifth to lead Marian in the 1500m.
Gideon Brimmage was the lone Knight in the 400m, finishing seventh.
Micah Williams also had a strong individual performance with a fourth-place finish in the 110m hurdles.
Marian's field events shined over the course of the two-day meet, winning five events.
Van Lian earned a win in the triple jump hitting 13.53m on his top jump, and
Gunner Kovach made his return to the high jump pit by winning with a 1.97m height. In the throwing pits,
Jacob Netral,
Isaiah Tipping, and
Christian Rios dominated, collecting a combined seven NAIA A Standards. Netral won the shot put with a mark of 17.75m, while Rios and Tipping completed the top three as both men hit an A standard. Rios and Tipping both hit A standards in the discus with Rios earning the win, while the two flipped in the hammer as Tipping won with a 65.28m distance, taking over the national lead and a new Marian record.Â
