COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Marian women's golf team finished as the runner-up in the Fall Crossroads League Preview, completing the 54-hole tournament on Tuesday afternoon at Harrison Lake CC. The Knights were led by a fifth place finish from
Maria Kennard.
Marian's lineup played incomplete in the Crossroads League Preview, with one of their top-five golfers in
Jordan Adam being unavailable for competition. Marian played strong, but ultimately scored the runner-up finish behind No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan, with the Wildcats winning the tournament. Indiana Wesleyan had a team score of 913, while Marian finished with a 946 total. The Knights did earn an eight-stroke win over No. 18 Taylor, while chalking up a victory over (RV) Grace and non-conference member IU-East.
Maria Kennard was the team leader throughout the tournament, scoring a 231 for the 54-hole event with rounds of 75, 79, and 77. Kennard finished nine shots back of the co-champions Eleanor Schuitema (Taylor) and Kamryn Williams (Indiana Wesleyan).
Keara Eder tied for eighth with a 235 total (78+76+81), and
Hailey Kirkland finished 10th with a 236 total (80+78+78).
Emma Weiler finished with a 239 total with rounds of 78, 77, and 84, rounding out the top-four in the lineup.
Addyson Weiler filled in the top-five with Adam out, and finished 17th, scoring a 244 (78+83+83) in her fourth collegiate event.
The Knights finish their fall season next Monday and Tuesday, traveling to Dalton State for the Roadrunner Fall Invitational.
