INDIANAPOLIS - Coming off Marian's 44-36 victory over No. 19 Olivet Nazarene, the Marian football team was honored with two Mid-States Football Association Midwest League Player of the Week awards.
Cade Houseman was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week, while
Alijah Price was named as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Cade Houseman was a tackling machine on Saturday, leading the Knights with 10 total stops in the win over Olivet Nazarene. Of his 10 tackles, five stops were solo knockdowns, while he also made 1.5 tackles for loss in the outing.
Alijah Price had another big week in the return game for Marian, running back five kickoffs for 198 yards while averaging under 40 yards per return. The freshman's impact play came in the fourth quarter, running back a kick 95 yards for his first collegiate special teams score, solidifying Marian's lead over Olivet Nazarene. The first-year running back also made an impact on the ground for the offense, rushing for a team-high 45 yards and one touchdown.
The player of the week honor is the second of the season for both Knights. Houseman's Defensive Player of the Week award is his third in his career.
The Knights will host Saint Francis (Ill.) this weekend in their first game of the month of November. Kickoff this weekend is set for 1:05 p.m.
