No. 3 Marian Takes Down No. 18 Grace In Shutout Win

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - The Marian women's soccer team stays undefeated as they shutout No. 18 Grace. The Knights are now 12-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Crossroads League. 

Marian struck early with a goal by Kiley Jones off of a corner kick and assist from Marian Corro Celma to take the early 1-0 lead in the first minute of play. Grace followed up with a shot that was saved by Lily Ames in goal to keep the Knights in the lead. Erin Kelly attempted at a header off of a corner kick by Jones but came up a little to high off of the target. The Lancers continued to take chances recording two more shots that were saved by Ames to maintain the lead. Katie Koger took a shot at the 33rd minute but got blocked by Grace's defense. The Lancers followed up with their fourth shot on target but Ames continued to shine in goal saving the shot. Koger attempted to increase the score in the last two minutes of the half but came up a little wide ending the half with the 1-0 lead.

Grace struck first in the second half recording a wide shot but Taylor Wert was able to follow up with the second goal of the day with an assist from Allie Tredway to take the 2-0 lead. Marian continued to push at their lead with Wert and Tredway each recording a shot but coming up short. Grace ended the game with a shot in the last thirty seconds but came up wide ending the game with the 2-0 win for the Knights. 

Katie Koger and Taylor Wert led the team recording each of the goals and two shots. Erin Kelly, Kiley Jones, and Allie Tredway recorded one shot each. In goal Lily Ames recorded her 10th win with four saves.

The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, October 11th as they travel up to Upland, Ind. to take on No. 19 Taylor at 1 PM.
