Women's Bowling Opens Up CL Play With a Pair of Top-3 Finishes

The Marian women's bowling team began Crossroads League play over the weekend, competing in the league's first two matches of the season. On Friday in Marion, Indiana, the women finished third, while on Saturday in Bluffton, Indiana, the ladies placed.

FRIDAY

Marian finished third as a team on Friday, scoring a total of 4635 pins between baker and individual play. Spring Arbor began its league title defense with a first-place finish and a score of 4897 pins, and Huntington edged out Marian for second with a 4656 total. 

The Knights' JV1 team finished second behind Spring Arbor's top team, with Marian scoring a 4489 total. The second JV lineup finished sixth with a 3770 total. Emily Reneau was the top JV bowler from team one with an eighth-place individual finish and score of 542, while Nadiah Rittenhouse finished 21st overall with a 512 score to lead JV2.

Marian's top bowler on the day was Paige Richards, who finished second overall with a 639 total. Richards finished eight pins out of first, and for the day averaged a 213 per game, scoring a high of 220 pins over three games. The senior was the top varsity bowler for the eight Crossroads League teams. Below are individual results for the varsity.

SATURDAY

Marian finished in second as a team on Saturday, with a total of 5156 points. Spring Arbor finished in first with 5202 points, and Indiana Wesleyan rounded out the top-3 with 4742 points. Followed were Huntington, Goshen, Mount Vernon, Grace, and Bethel in finishing order. 

In JV action, Marian JV2 came in second with 4581 points, and Marian JV1 came in third with 4540. Brianna Greenlee led the JV1 team with a 20th-place finish, knocking down 467 pins. 

Marian's top bowler of the day was Paige Richards, who finished in sixth with a total of 536. Richards averaged 178.67 per game for three games and started the day with a game of 193.

Marian will return to competition on January 17, traveling to Illinois for the annual Kegel ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic.
