Upland, Ind. - The Marian woman's basketball team ended their two-game road stretch unscathed, as the Knights recorded a one-sided 92-63 win over Taylor Unviersity Saturday afternoon. Marian's win lifts them to 17-5 overall on the season, and 10-2 in Crossroads League play.
Both teams opened up the game trading baskets, with
Taylor Double tabbing the basket for the Knights. Marian went on six basket run with
Kiley McNally,
Madisyn Bailey, and
Abbey McNally recording a layup each while
Olivia Faust recorded a pair as well as Abbey marking down a free throw to record the 13-2 lead. Taylor was able to fire back with a layup and pair of free throws to draw a media timeout. The Knights were able our out score the Trojans in their second push with Kiley recording a layup and
Eva Fisher recording a three-pointer to bring the score 18-9. Kiley and Fisher were able to outscore the opponents once more with a layup and a jump shot. Abbey and Fisher ended the quarter with a duo of layups to secure the 26-11 lead going into the second quarter.
Abbey McNally opened up the second quarter with a layup and free throw to extend the lead. The Trojans attempted at a push but Kiley was able to fire off a layup to lessen the blow and bring the score 31-13. Taylor was able to go on a six basket run with two pairs of free throws and a duo of layups to bring the score 31-17.
Abbey McNally was able to break up the blow with a layup but was quickly countered with a three-pointer from Taylor. The Knights were able to bounce back out scoring the Trojans with a pair of of free throws from Double and a layup from Abbey. Marian was able to go on a three basket run with a pair of layups from Bailey and a three-pointer from
Zoe Wheeler only to be broken by a Trojan free throw.
Madisyn Bailey ended the half with a pair of free throws to end the half with a score of 51-30.
The Trojans opened up the third quarter with a three-pointer but Faust was able to lessen the blow with a jump shot. Both sides traded free throws with Double tabbing the baskets for the Knights.
Abbey McNally was able to tab another free throw but was out scored by a Trojan layup.
Kennedy Fuelling got her hand in the mix with a score to bring the score 58-37, and helped pace the score in the quarter as the lead gradually grew to a 65-46 margin.
Abbey McNally and
Kenna Kirby ended the quarter with a pair of layups to secure the 69-48 lead.
Taylor opened the final quarter with a layup and free throw. The Knights bounced back with a pair of layups from Double, a layup from Abbey and Bailey but were broken up by a pair of free throws. Double and Abbey was able to extend the lead more with a pair of jump shots and layup to bring the score 81-53. Kiley traded layups with the Trojans to continue Marian's 28 point lead. Taylor continued to push but we're blown off by a pair of three-pointers from Faust and a single three-pointer from Double. The Trojans finished off the game with a pair of layups and a pair of free throws to bring the score 92-63.
Abbey McNally ended the game with her 11th double-double of the season, scoring 25 points while corralling 18 rebounds.
Taylor Double scored 15 points and led the team in assists with six, while
Olivia Faust scored another 12 points.
Madisyn Bailey and
Kiley McNally each scored in double figures, with a respective 11 and 10 points.
The Knights will be back in action at home on Wednesday, February 5th as they take on Goshen at 5:30pm in the PE Center.
