Marion, Ind. - The Marian softball team split with No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan winning game one 5-1 and falling in game two 16-8. The Knights move to 21-5 overall on the season and 11-3 in the Crossroads League

Indiana Wesleyan took charge first with a run scored off of a single to take a 1-0 lead in the third inning. After a pair of dry innings the Knights were able to strike with a single from
Abbey Hofmann to allow
Hayley Greene to score a run to tie up the game.
Lily Wendt fired off a single into center field to allow
Anna Pritchett and Hofmann to score and take the 3-1 lead.
One inning later Greene single into center field to allow
Jenna Minnix to score followed up by a single into left field from Hofmann to allow Greene to score and extend the lead. The Knights got out of the game with a strikeout, line out and a pick off in the bottom of the sixth as well as three straight outs in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 5-1 win.
Hayley Greene led the Knights in game one going 3-3 from the plate with two runs scored and one RBI recorded.
Abbey Hofmann went 2-4 from the plate with one run and two RBI's recorded while
Lily Wendt also recorded a pair of RBI's as well as going 1-3 from the plate. In the circle
Olivia Stunkel pitched all seven innings only giving up four hits and struck out eight batters in her 26 faced.
Game 2 | Marian 8-16 Indiana Wesleyan | 6 Innings
The Wildcats opened up the game with seven runs scored in the bottom of the second to take the early lead over the Knights. In the top of the third
Anna Pritchett singled into left field to allow
Abbey Hofmann to cross the plate but Indiana Wesleyan was able to push with another run scored in the bottom of the third to extend their 8-1 lead.
Marian continued to fight back with Jenna Minniz doubling into right field to earn an RBI and allow
Lily Wendt to cross the plate in the fourth inning.
Ally Malone was able to follow up with a single into right field to allow Minnix to score another run but the Wildcats were able to follow up with another run scored off of an error by the Knights to increase the score 9-3.
The Knights had a huge fifth inning with
Hayley Greene doubling into center field to allow Minnix, Wendt, and Pritchett to all score a run. Shortly after Greene benefited off a walk from
Brooke Knox and Malone benefited from Hoffman's walk to chip away at the 9-8 lead. The Wildcats wrapped up the game scoring six runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth to end the game with the 16-8 run rule win.Â
Abbey Hofmann led the Knights going 2-3 from the plate with one run and one RBI while
Jenna Minnix also recorded one RBI and went 2-4 from the plate.
Hayley Greene led Marian in RBI's with three ans went 1-3 from the plate with one run scored.Â

Macy Coan earned the start and took the loss pitching 1.2 innings with eight hits given up out of her 13 batters faced.
Katie Lackman pitched the most innings with 2.1 with five hits given up and one strikeout.
Lauren Mayer also got time in the circle facing four batters.
Alayna Tesnar closed out the game pitching the last inning facing nine batters.
The Knights finish off their stretch on the road tomorrow as they travel to Upland, Ind. to take on the Trojans starting at 1 p.m.
