Marian Football Head Coach Ted Karras Jr. Inducted into Indiana Football

INDIANAPOLIS - On Sunday, May 4, Marian football head coach Ted Karras Jr. was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame, as he was one of seven IFCA Region One inductees in the 2025 class. Karas is the fourth member in his family to be inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame.

Ted was a two-year letterman for Hobart High School in football and basketball. He was named All-Area in football & basketball. He was All-Duneland Conference and All-State in football. Ted played in the 1983 North-South All-Star game. Karras then went on to be a four-year starter and letterman at Northwestern and team captain. He was named Honorable Mention All-Big 10.

Karras was a member of the 1987-1988 Super Bowl XXII Champion Washington Redskins. He received the All-American Football Foundation Bill Wade "Unsung Hero Award". He was inducted into the Andrean High School Hall of Fame, the Hobart High School Hall of Fame, and the Marian University Wall of Fame. Ted joins his father, Ted (1963 World Champion Chicago Bears), Uncles Lou (Washington Redskins) and Alex (Detroit Lions - 2020 Pro Football Hall of Fame) in the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. His son Teddy is a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots, and currently captain of the Cincinnatti Bengals.

Karras enters his ninth overall season as the head coach of Marian University this fall. Karras delivered Marian their first-ever NAIA National Championship in 2012 with the football program's first title. The first head coach in Marian football history holds a 65-27 overall record with the Knights in eight completed seasons.
