Joliet, Ill. - The Marian women's soccer team continued their hot streak with a 4-2 win over St. Francis (Ill.). The Knights move to 8-0 ending the pre-conference slate.
Marian opened up the first half with three shots from
Katie Koger and
Taylor Wert before the Fighting Saints recorded a shot.
Olivia Parmer recorded a header but was a bit to the left but Koger followed up with a goal to take the 1-0 lead. Saint Francis fired back with a shot wide right and followed up with a goal with a penalty kick to tie the game 1-1. The Knights recorded two more shots with
Kaitlyn Lavezzi and Wert recording the shots.
Sienna Mullen followed up with a goal to take the two goal lead. The Fighting Saints recorded another shot but the Knights fired back with four shots from Lavezzi,
Lauren Maresh, and two from
Kylie Conrad but they came up unsucessful ending the half with the 2-1 lead.Â
Saint Francis opened up the second half with a pair of shots but came up short to the Knights defense and
Lily Ames efforts in goal.
Allie Tredway recorded a shot that was saved by the goalie and Parmer recorded two that were blocked and wide right followed by a shot from the Fighting Saints that was wide. Parmer took her chance once more and scored a goal with the assist by
Savannah Spangler to take the 3-1 lead over Saint Francis. The Fighting Saints fired back with a goal nine minutes later to bring the Knights lead down to one.
Marian Corro Celma recorded a shot followed up with two shots by Parmer but both came up unsucessful. Saint Francis fired off three shots but all came up unsuccessful the Knights followed up with a goal from Parmer ending the game with a 4-2 win.Â
Parmer led the team with seven shots and two goals while
Katie Koger recorded three shots and one goal and one assist.
Taylor Wert,
Kaitlyn Lavezzi, and
Kylie Conrad all recorded two shots.
Lauren Maresh,
Allie Tredway,
Sienna Mullen, and
Marian Corro Celma each recorded one shot while
Savannah Spangler recorded one assist in the match. In goal
Lily Ames recorded her 8th win with two saves.Â
The Knights will be back in action as they open up Crossroads League Play as they take on Huntington on the road on Wednesday, September 24th at 6 pm.Â
