Jackson, Mich. - The Marian women's bowling team recorded a third place finish at Crossroads League Meet Four on Friday afternoon, competing at JAX 60 in Jackson, Michigan. The Knights also finished as the runner-up in the league tournament, with the top individual performance of the day belonging to JV2 bowler
Nadiah Rittenhouse, who was the overall individual champion.
Marian finished third overall on the day, totaling a 4767 pinfall between team games and baker games. In the team play, Marian logged a 2571 score, which was the third-highest mark behind overall winner Spring Arbor and runner-up Indiana Wesleyan. Marian did knock down a league-best 2196 pins in baker play to keep competitive, but it was not enough to overtake the Wildcats or Cougars, leading to Marian finishing third overall.
The Knights' top varsity bowler on the day was
Paige Richards, who finished 15th overall with a total of 550 pins.
Abigail Dwyer finished 19th with a score of 544 pins, and
Jaymie Clere finished 28th with a total of 515 pins. Completing the varsity efforts was
Dolores Bauerle, who bowled a 492 in three games,
Phoenix Newkirk, who bowled a 288 in two games, and
Lexie Jones, who bowled one game and scored a 182.
The Marian women were then seeded first in the Crossroads League Tournament that followed, defeating Goshen College in the semifinal round 2-0. The Knights were then defeated 2-0-1Â against Spring Arbor in the championship round, losing games one and three while tying in game two.
For Marian's JV teams, the JV1 lineup finished second overall with a 4427 score, while the JV2 lineup finished fifth with a 3683 score.
Nadiah Rittenhouse highlighted the day for the JV teams and for the program overall, finishing as the overall champion with a 631 pin total. The win is the first in her career, and first for a Marian JV bowler this season. Also leading Marian from the JV teams was
Skylar Thomas, who finished 11th overall with a total of 558 pins.Â
Marian finishes the Crossroads League season next week, hosting CL Bowl Meet 3 at Western Bowl. The event begins at 8:30 a.m.
