Lacrosse Completes Undefeated Road Week in Michigan

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Marian women's lacrosse team notched its second consecutive win on Saturday, winning an early morning bout against Madonna by a final score 16-3. Marian improves to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in WHAC play with the win.Ā 

The Knights put the game in their hands early on Saturday, scoring six goals in the first quarter to take a commanding lead. Ella Grace Giedd scored the first goal of the game 4:28 into play, while 28 seconds later, Taleah Nool scored the second goal of the game. Delaney Koles poured in a third consecutive score to give the Knights a 3-0 lead, putting the game in confident hands early. Madonna would break up the run with a goal, but Marian rattled off three more to end the quarter, with Allyson Cissell, Esbeydi Montes, and Taleah Nool rattling off another three unanswered.

The late run gave Marian a 6-1 lead going into the second quarter, where the lead would continue to swell with the road team putting up four consecutive goals in the period. Giedd scored her second goal of the game, while Rylie Boezeman, Delaney Koles, and Alex Dean each notched a goal before half to take a 10-1 lead.Ā 

Taleah NoolĀ scored an early goal in the second half to ignite the running clock, pushing the Knights in front 11-1 four minutes into the third quarter. Ruby Mason solidified the running clock scoring moments after Nool, while Alex Dean drove the lead to 11 again after Madonna scored its second goal, giving Marian a 13-2 lead after three quarters.

Marian went on to outscore Madonna 3-1 in the final quarter, as Koles scored twice and Dean scored once, sealing a runaway 16-3 victory.Ā 

Alex Dean, Taleah Nool, and Delaney Koles each recorded a hat trick in the win, while Nool dished out two assists to record a game-high five points. Mason and Giedd each scored twice, with Giedd logging three assists to match Nool with five points. Dean won five draw controls, and five players each recovered two ground balls.Ā 

In goal, Aniyah Jones recorded the win to move to 4-3 on the season, making four saves in three quarters of work. Addison Marsh played the final quarter of the game, making three saves in her collegiate debut.Ā 

Marian comes home next weekend to host Bethel University at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1.Ā
