Jackson, Mich. - Coming off of a successful showing in Tennessee, the Marian men's track and field team was recognized by the Crossroads League with both of this week's field and track athletes of the week, as
Marzeion Jones and
Eric Materna earned this week's honors. Both are the first of their outdoor seasons in 2026.
Marzeion Jones broke Marian's program record in the triple jump to earn CL Field Athlete of the Week, hitting a mark of 15.29 meters to automatically qualify for NAIA Nationals in the event. Jones finished second among 23 athletes in the event at the Tennessee Invite, breaking his PR by over one meter and the school record by 0.8 meters.Â
Eric Materna had a dominant weekend on the track, competing in three events to earn CL Track Athlete of the Week honors. Materna finished third in the open 400, then helped the Knights shatter the school record in the 4x400m relay, winning the event at the Tennessee Invite. Materna also ran in the 200m, and hit the A standard in his 400m race.Â
The Knights will travel to Indiana Wesleyan this weekend to compete in the annual Little State Meet.Â
