Old Hickory, Tenn. - The Marian men's golf team completed its fourth tournament of the spring on Tuesday afternoon, placing in a tie for sixth in the annual Music City Classic, hosted by Cumberland University. Marian's outing was headlined by the play of senior
Weston Ogden, who finished as the runner-up and broke the team's school record for 54-holes with his blazing 203 score.
All teams in the field played strongly for the three rounds at Hermitage Golf Course, with nine teams finishing the week at even par or better. Marian finished five-under for the week, playing even in round one, while one-under in round two and four-under in the third, totaling an 859. The Knights tied with Indiana Wesleyan for sixth in the tournament, finishing two strokes out of fifth place behind Lindsey Wilson.Â
Marian gained three spots in the final round of the tournament, entering the third round in ninth before finishing in sixth. Keiser won the tournament, followed Webber International and Grand View in the top three.Â
Individually,
Weston Ogden had the best outing of his collegiate career as play ended on Tuesday, completing a runner-up performance with a school record 203. Ogden's brilliant play began with a 69 in the first round, while in the second, he carded a 66. The senior finished the tournament with a 68 in the final round, completing his school record tournament score of 203. Ogden's record breaks the previous mark held by
Brandon Heffner by three strokes.
Behind Ogden,
Lane Zedrick finished 22nd with his 214 overall score (71-69-74), while
Nolan Potter earned a top-30 finish in 29th, scoring a 216 (77-71-68).
Brody Holubar finished 80th with his 227 (71-81-75), and
Augie Mann finished 97th, scoring a 235 for the week (79-82-74).Â
Marian will end the regular season on Monday, April 20, playing in the annual Indiana Wesleyan Sagamore Shootout. The 36-hole event will be held locally in Noblesville, Indiana.
