GREENWOOD, Ind. - For the first time in program history, the Marian women's cross country and track and field program has earned an Academic All-America honor presented by College Sport Communicators (CSC), as Katie Woods and Hanna Reuter have been named 2025-26 Cross Country and Track and Field Second Team Academic All-America. The honors were announced on Wednesday, July 15. 

Eligible nominees for the CSC Academic All-America program must maintain a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average while having reached sophomore status academically, and must rank in the top-25 in their conference or region, based on TFRRS rankings at the time of nomination. The event can be a singular event, either indoor or outdoor, and must be based on an individual event.

Graduated senior Katie Woods and Hanna Reuter helped Marian capture the program's first-ever NAIA National Championship in March, as the Knights won the NAIA Indoor National Championship. Woods would help the Knights to a top-10 finish at the 2025 NAIA Cross Country National Championship to set a program-best finish, while the duo would both play a role in a top-10 finish at the NAIA Outdoor National Championship. 

The efforts of the seniors helped Marian earn the USTFCCCA Fred Beile Women's NAIA Program of the Year, an honor won by the program for the first time this year in just the second time they were eligible for the honor. 

Katie Woods had a historic senior year, as the top distance runner in program history exited Marian with six NAIA All-America honors, winning her first at the NAIA Cross Country Championship. Woods helped the Knights win the DMR and then individually won the mile during the indoor national championship, while also finishing as the runner-up in the mile, before ending her career with All-America honors in the 1500m and 4x800m relay in North Carolina in late May. 

Hanna Reuter was a three-time All-American this past year, earning honors in both the indoor and outdoor 4x400m relays, while also earning the accolade in the 600m during indoor season. 

The now-alumnae of Marian University are the first two Academic All-America recipients in the program's history.

Five of the 20 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women's track and field/cross country teams hold a perfect 4.00 GPA in their undergraduate work. The 10 first team selections have an undergraduate GPA of 3.90. The entire 20-member team has an undergraduate GPA of 3.86.  Six first team student-athletes are repeat choices on the Academic All-America® NAIA women's track and field/cross country team. 

The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
