INDIANAPOLIS - The offensive fireworks continued for Marian women's soccer in their second match of the year. The Knights secured a 6-1 win over St. Ambrose on Saturday afternoon.
Ava Sivadat led the way, recording a brace, while multiple Knights scored their second goals of the season. The Knights move to 2-0 overall on the season after the win.
Saint Ambrose opened up the match with a shot that
Lily Ames quickly saved in goal.
Olivia Parmer and
Sienna Mullen were able to quickly gain control of the ball, with Mullen recording two shots before Parmer was able to reach the back of the goal on her second shot to put the Knights in the lead 1-0 in the 18th minute of play. Marian continued to control the game, recording three goals from
Sammie King,
Ava Sivadat, and
Kaitlyn Lavezzi to increase the lead to four. The Bees were able to gain control of the ball and score in the 38th minute of play, and knock down Marian's lead by one. The Knights took three more shots before
Sophia Dawson scored her first goal of the day in the final minute of the half, extending the lead to 5-1.Â
Out of the half, the Knights started a little bit slower, only recording a pair of shots from Lavezzi and
Cecelia Kostick before Sivadat knocked in her second goal of the game, extending the lead to five. Marian put up two more shots before putting in an entirely new crew to finish off the match. In the final 20 minutes of play, the Knights fired off four more shots, with
Allie Tredway and
Leila Ramirez-Noon's shots being saved by Tucker in goal. Saint Ambrose took one more try in the final two minutes of play but shot a tad high off target, allowing the Knights to take the 6-1 win.
Sienna Mullen and
Olivia Parmer led the way, recording four shots with Parmer having two on target and one in goal. Mullen recorded one shot on target and the singular assist of the match to Lavezzi's goal.
Allie Tredway also had a multi-shot game with three shots and two on target. Off of the bench
Ava Sivadat recorded a brace with the two shots she took. Lavezzi led the way with three shots while two were on target and one goal. In goal,
Lily Ames earned her second win of the season, recording one save and allowing one goal.
Cassidy Nowlan came in as relief for the final 32 minutes of play.
Marian will continue their four-game home stretch on Saturday, August 29th as they host the University of Science and Arts (Okla.) in their first ranked matchup of the year, with kickoff scheduled for 10:00 AM.
