Sammie King led the way in Marian women's soccer's first-ranked matchup of the year. In the 3-0 win, King scored a brace. The Knights extended their undefeated streak to 3-0 at home to open the 2026 campaign.
The Knights took control of the defensive battle early, recording five shots compared to the Drovers' three in the first 20 minutes of play. The University of Science and Arts took another chance but came up short against Ames' efforts in goal.
Sammie King was quick to counter four minutes later, firing off a goal to take the 1-0 lead at the 34-minute mark. Ava Sividat attempted a strike but came up short, with her shot saved by Hilgenkamp in goal to end the half.Â
Olivia Parmer was quick to strike out of the half with her first goal five minutes into play to extend the lead to two. Marian continued to control the match with four uninterrupted shots before the Drovers were able to tally one in the second half. Each team traded shots before
Sammie King was able to punch her second goal of the day and end the match with the 3-0 win over the University of Science and Arts.
Sammie King led the way for the Knights, tallying six shots with four on target as well as two goals.
Olivia Parmer also had a multi-shot day with three and two on target, and one goal. Off the bench,
Sophia Dawson led the way, recording two assists. In goal
Lily Ames took the win playing all 90 minutes and recording two saves.
The Knights move to 3-0 on the early season and will be back in action on Tuesday, September 1st at 7 pm as they host No. 2 Cumberlands.
