OWENSBORO, KY. - Senior forward Gustavo Nunes led Marian to a road win over Brescia on Wednesday evening. Nunes scored a career-high five goals to lead Marian in the 8-1 win, closing out a two-game road trip.

The Knights took control of the game early with a header from Samuel Wehaus in the opening ten minutes of play. After about 20 minutes of back-and-forth action, Marian struck again with Leonard Assouan scoring his first career goal at Marian, with the assist from Matthew Loo, to take the lead. After another lone shot from the Knights, Gustavo Nunes took advantage of a foul to record his first penalty kick goal of the match to extend the lead to 2-0. Nunes kept pushing with a pair of goals in the final five minutes of play to extend the lead to 4-0 and record a hat trick before the half. 

Marian continued to control the game with a pair of shots in the opening five minutes, but the Bearcats' defense was able to record a pair of blocks to keep the Knights at bay. Brescia controlled possession of the ball and got on the board at the 48th-minute mark, bringing the margin back down to three. Wehaus was quick to counter less than six minutes later with his first goal of the match to extend the lead back to four. Each team ticked off a shot before Nunes took control of the ball once again, knocking in his fourth goal of the match to extend the margin to 6-1. Marian continued to attack and control the game, recording a trio of shots with two on goal before Nunes struck a final time to record his fifth goal of the evening. The Knights maintained control for the final 20 minutes of play before Joshua Wesseling recorded his first goal of the year in the final nine seconds of play to seal the 8-1 win for Marian. 

Leonard Assouan led the way for the Knights, recording four shots with two on target and one goal and one assist for the evening. Matthew Loo led the Knights in assists with two while also recording one shot on goal. Off the bench, Gustavo Nunes had a career outing, recording six shots, all on target, and a team-high of five goals. In goal, Tristan Edwards made his debut as a Marian Knight, earning his first start and win. Edwards also recorded one save during his outing. Talon Collier came in as relief, also making his debut as a Knight, playing 15 minutes in goal.

After the win the Knights move to 2-1 overall on the season and will be back in action on Saturday as they host the IU-Columbus Crimson Pride at 7pm.
