Happy Tuesday, Knights! Welcome to this week's edition of The Knightcap, where each week, you can catch up on what you may have missed in the world of Marian Athletics last week and preview what's ahead for the Knights this week.
 
AT HOME THIS WEEK
Wednesday, Sept. 16
- Men's Soccer vs. IU East, 7 p.m. - Alumni Night
- Volleyball vs. Grace, 7 p.m.
 
Thursday, Sept. 17
- Women's Soccer Developmental Team vs. Huntington, 7:30 p.m.
 
Saturday, Sept. 19
- Football vs. Madonna, 1:05 p.m. - Family Weekend

MEN'S GOLF
- Marian Men's Golf finished sixth out of nine teams at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan
- Lane Zedrick earned a runner-up finish at the tournament, helping him earn Crossroads League Men's Golfer of the Week honors
- His 67 on Tuesday was the second-lowest in the field
 
WOMEN'S GOLF
- Marian Women's Golf placed as the team runner-up at the Wildcat Fall Invitational at Purdue
- Miley Kennard and Alex Reschly were tied among the top finishers for the Knights, placing T4th
- This week, the Knights head to the Keiser Seahawks Shootout in West Palm Beach, Fla. for action Monday and Tuesday
 
MEN'S SOCCER
- Men's Soccer opened the week with a 6-0 win on Labor Day over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, highlighted by a hat trick by Sam Wehaus
- Behind the performance, Wehaus earned his second consecutive Crossroads League Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors
- The Knights would later fall to 3rd-ranked Indiana Tech on Saturday
 - This week, Marian closes out its six-game homestand with a matchup with IU East on Wednesday, serving as the team's Alumni Night
 
WOMEN'S SOCCER
- Fourth-ranked Marian Women's Soccer made it a Labor Day sweep for Marian Soccer with a 4-1 win at Olivet Nazarene on Monday, as Lauren Maresh and Sienna Mullen both scored a pair of goals in the win
- This week, the Knights travel to 23rd-ranked Northwestern Ohio on Tuesday in the team's third match with a nationally ranked opponent this season
 
VOLLEYBALL
- Marian Volleyball earned an upset win over sixth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday, handing the Wildcats their first conference loss at home since 2022 in a thrilling five-setter
- Chloe Cook racked up 20 kills in the nationally ranked win
- The Knights would later fall to Saint Francis (Ind.) in another five-set match in the team's home opener
- This week, Marian returns to the P.E. Center with a match with Grace at 7 p.m., streamed live on the ISC Sports Network. 
- They then head to 23rd-ranked Spring Arbor on Saturday in a match that had its location flipped from when the schedule was originally released. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m.
 
CYCLING
- Marian Cycling finished as the Team Omnium runner-up at the USA Cycling Track Nationals, hosted at the Major Taylor Velodrome
- The Knights' Fred Meredith earned Individual Omnium honors on the men's side with national championships in the Men's Sprint, Men's Pursuit, Men's Points Race, Men's Kilo Time Trial, as well as the Co-Ed Team Sprint final
- Mairen Lawson was the Women's Omnium runner-up, earning gold in the Women's Pursuit Final
- The #KnightsOnBikes return to Mountain Bike action this week, traveling down to the Lees-McRae High Country Classic in Banner Elk, N.C.
 
WOMEN'S TENNIS
- Marian Women's Tennis opened its fall season with the DePauw Invitational this past weekend
- Paloma Villalba took home the second-ranked singles final, while Villalba and Jimena Rivera Flores brought home the top-ranked doubles crown
- This week, the Knights head to the south side to compete in the UIndy Fall Invitational at Center Grove HS
 
RUGBY
- Seventh-ranked Marian Rugby went toe to toe with reigning NCR Division I national champion St. Bonaventure in New York this past weekend, ultimately falling 28-23
- The Knights return to action on the road this weekend, facing 8th-ranked Walsh on Friday at 7 p.m.
 
FOOTBALL
- 12th-ranked Marian Football retained the Franciscan Bowl trophy on Saturday with a convincing 30-6 win at 17th-ranked Saint Francis (Ind.), highlighted by four takeaways from the defense
- Uriah Buchanan, Samirion Ford and Ashton Vogel swept the MSFA Midwest Players of the Week honors for their performance
- Marian makes its long-awaited debut at home this season at Ascension St. Vincent Field on Saturday, hosting Madonna over Family Weekend
 
CROSS COUNTRY
- Cross Country was away from competition last week, but returns to the course this week to compete in the George Dales Invite hosted by Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo on Friday night

We're excited to welcome our Marian Men's Soccer alumni back to campus! All alumni attending will receive a special alumni shirt at the gate as we celebrate the history and tradition of the program.

Family Weekend + Football Home Opener | Saturday, Sept. 19

Family Weekend is here, and there will be plenty happening across campus before Marian Football takes on Madonna at 1:05 PM in our first home game of the season!

Students, be sure to check out Knight Village, our new student tailgate experience located in the grass area between Doyle Hall and University Hall. Stop by before kickoff for music, games, giveaways and a chance to hang out with fellow Knights before heading into the stadium.
