Indianapolis — Marian University volleyball outside hitter Chloe Cook and men's soccer forward Gustavo Nunes were named Marian Athletes of the Month for August, the department announced Thursday.

Cook entered the month of September ranked in the top five in the NAIA in kills, while hitting .263 in the month of August, helping lead Marian to a 9-4 record including a win over 11th-ranked Missouri Baptist.
 
Nunes scored a career-high five goals in just 27 minutes in the win over Brescia on Aug. 26. The game tied him for the NAIA national lead in goals at the time after not having scored in the season to that point. Nunes has helped lead the Knights to the nation's highest-scoring offense, with Marian scoring 17 goals in four matches in August.
