HUNTINGTON, IND. - The Marian men's soccer team opened up Crossroads League play on the road on Wednesday evening with a 3-2 win over Huntington.
Leonard Assouan led the Knights, recording a brace. After the win, the Knights improved to 8-2 overall on the season and 1-0 in the Crossroads League.
The Knights took control of the game early, firing off a pair of shots from
Dani Rojas and
Samuel Wehaus before Huntington was able to strike. Marian quickly gained control once again with a pair of shots before
Leonard Assouan's shot reached the back of the net, with an assist from Wehaus to put the Knights in the lead. The Foresters were quick to counter with a trio of shots, with only one on goal that Edwards was able to save. But Huntington was able to reach the back of the net for the first time of the evening, bringing the match to a 1-1 tie going into the half.
Rafael Zambrano opened up the second half with a shot that was saved by the Forester's goalie. Huntington attempted to benefit from a penalty kick in the 57th minute, but Edwards was able to save the shot, keeping the match at a standstill. Marian continued to fire off shots, taking two more before Assouan reached the back of the net once more to take back the one-goal lead over Huntington. The Foresters were quick to fire back with another goal to bring the score back to a 2-2 draw with 15 minutes remaining on the clock. Each side continued to fire off shots, with Marian tallying three more and Huntington taking one before
Eduardo Rivera reached the back of the net for his first career goal and capturing the 3-2 win for the Knights.

Rafael Zambrano each recorded a brace in the match as well. In goal,
Tristan Edwards took the win and improved his record to 7-1 overall this season.
Marian will be back at home on Saturday as they host Goshen, with a kickoff slated for 7 PM at Ascension St. Vincent Field.
