MOUNT VERNON, OHIO - The Marian women's soccer team extends its winning ways on the road Wednesday evening. After the win, the Knights move to 10-0-1 overall this season and 3-0 in the Crossroads League.
Marian opened up the match with a pair of shots, with one on goal, before Mount Vernon quickly followed up with a pair of their own, saved by
Cassidy Nowlan in goal. The Knights controlled the remainder of the half, recording 14 more shots in the half. Eight of the 14 shots were on target but came up short against the Cougars' goalie, while one shot was blocked. Despite controlling the half, the Knights go into halftime tied 0-0 with the Cougars.
Out of halftime, it was all Marian, with the Knights controlling the entire half, recording 15 more shots before getting on board after an own goal to take the 1-0 lead. The Knights attempted to increase their lead with five more shots but came up short, with three of the five shots saved by the goalie, allowing Marian to take the win and continue their undefeated stretch.
Olivia Parmer led the way, recording seven shots with two on target. Sienna Mulle,
Sammie King, and
Sophia Dawson each had five shots in the match.
Allie Tredway,
Erin Reilly,
Jordan Love, and
Ava Sivadat each recorded three. In goal,
Cassidy Nowlan earned her first start, first shutout win, and career win. Nowlan also recorded two saves in a match.
Marian will be back in action on the road on Saturday as they travel to Winona Lake to take on No. 8 Grace with a 1:30 PM kickoff.
