Marian Men's Soccer Blanks Judson

INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian Men's soccer team continues its home stand with a 2-0 win over Judson Saturday afternoon. Samuel Wehaus led the charge with a goal and an assist.

The Knights took charge early with two shots in the opening minute. The Eagles countered, making their stride with a shot on goal but couldn't get past Tristan Edwards' defense in goal. Leonard Assouan got Marian on the board with an assist from Samuel Wehaus to take the 1-0 lead in the 13th minute of play. Each team traded off a pair of shots, but Marian was able to come out on top of the second shot, with Wehaus striking off a pass from Taha Souiri to extend the lead to two. Each side took two more shots before the end of the half, but Marian was able to maintain their 2-0 lead going into the half.

Out of halftime, both teams' defenses kept the game close; neither side allowed a shot until the 60th minute, when Marian struck four times but came up short having three of the four shots blocked. In the 67th minute, Marian earned the upper hand after an Eagle was taken out of the game due to his second yellow card of the game. Playing a man up, Dani Rojas and Lazar Milosavljevic each took shots but were blocked by Judson's defense. Each team took one more shot, but both ended up shooting too high, ending the match with a 2-0 win for Marian.

Samuel Wehaus led the team with three shots and two on target, with one goal and one assist in the match. Rafael Zambrano led the team in shots with four, while Leonard Assousan recorded two. Off the bench, Lazar Milosavljevic recorded two shots. In goal, Tristan Edwards gained the start, improving his record to 4-0 on the season and tallying three saves.

After the win, the Knights move to 5-1 overall this season. Marian will be back in action on Monday, September 7th, as they host Saint Mary-of-the-Woods with kickoff set for 7 PM.
