INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian men's soccer team continues its undefeated home stretch with a shutout win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Monday evening.
Samuel Wehaus led the Knights in the showdown, recording three goals in the matchup.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods fired off the first shot of the game but came up short against
Tristan Edwards' defense in goal. Marian quickly countered with a shot from
Samuel Wehaus that was blocked, then scored his first goal of the evening at the six-minute mark. The Knights continued to control the game, recording four shots compared to the Pomeroys' one before
Rafael Zambrano reached the back of the net, extending the lead to two. Each team continued to fight with a shot each before Wehaus struck once again, extending the lead to 3-0 after 22 minutes of play. Marian showed no signs of stopping after firing off a shot, followed by a goal from
Leonard Assouan to extend the lead to four. After switching the field with subs, the Knights slowed down the striking only taking one more shot before halftime and going into the break leading 4-0.
Each team opened up the second half with a shot, but Marian continued to strike with two more shots before
Joao Antonio Rocha fired off his first goal of the match, extending the lead to five, only nine minutes into the second half. The Pomeroys fired off a shot that went wide right before Wehaus was able to strike for the third time, extending the lead to six and earning his first hat trick of the 2026 season. The rest of the match, the Knights maintained possession, taking only five more shots before ending the match with the 6-0 win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Samuel Wehaus led the Knights, recording three goals off of his six shots with four on target. Both
Leonard Assouan and
Rafael Zambrano recorded four shots with two on target and one goal. Assouan,
Joao Antonio Rocha, and
Taha Souiri recorded one assist each, while Zambrano led the way with two. Off the bench,
Lazar Milosavljevic led the way, taking four shots with two on target. In goal,
Tristan Edwards took the win, recording a career-high of five saves.
Talon Collier helped with the combined shutout, coming in as a reliever in the last 26 minutes of play.
After the win, Marian moves to 6-1 overall on the season and will be back in action this Saturday, September 12th, as they host No. 3 Indiana Tech with a 7 PM kickoff.
