Hilton Head, S.C. - The Marian women's team added another win to their overall record on Tuesday morning as they took down Milligan 5-2 at Hilton Head High School tennis courts. The Knights have won four straight and improve their record to 13-4.
Milligan picked up the first win of the morning as
Betija Dusele and
Katharina Bopst fell at No. 1 singles to Kaitlin Barrett and Camryn Rossa 6-0.
Isadora Muller and
Dana Savarino evened the score by winning 6-4 at the No. 2 spot over Macy Kennedy and Kylie Enarson, while
Josie Yarbrough and
Emma Chrome clinched the doubles point for Marian at No. 3 singles, winning 7-6 (7-5) against Tiana Shelton and Sophie Dunman.Â
In singles action, the Knights picked up four out of the six wins, with Chrome gathering the only two-set victory for Marian as she won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles against Dunman, while Dusele battled it out at the No. 1 spot, winning 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 1-0 (10-6) over Barrett. Savarino and
Joelle Leihbacher gathered the final two wins for Marian with Savarino defeating Kennedy 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) at the No. 5 spot, followed by Leihbacher taking down Heather Graf 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 6 singles. At the No. 2 spot, Bopst fell to Rossa 7-5, 6-3, while Muller lost to Enarson at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-3.
Marian will wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow with a pair of matches. The Knights will first take on Drew University at 8:30 a.m., before traveling to SCAD-Savannah for a 7 p.m. match.
