Michelle Irigoyen Earns Second Career CSC Academic All-America Honor

AUSTIN, Texas - College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its 2025-26 Academic All-American women's tennis teams today, highlighting 65 student-athletes across NCAA and NAIA divisions as All-America honorees. For the second consecutive year, the Marian women's tennis team earned an Academic All-America honor, as Michelle Irigoyen was named to the 2026 NAIA Second Team All-America.

This is the second consecutive honor for Michelle Irigoyen from the Academic All-America committee and the CSC, as she earns Second Team honors after earning First Team honors one season ago.

Irigoyen had a massive year for the Knights, helping the program win its first-ever Crossroads League Tournament Championship and win the CL Regular Season title for the first time since 2014. The junior earned All-Crossroads League Team honors, and in the classroom has been named to the NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CSC Academic All-District Teams this season. In the classroom, Michelle Irigoyen carries a 3.98 GPA and is majoring in civil engineering.

On the court, Irigoyen was the Knights' primary No. 3 singles player, and carried a record of 11-6 in singles competition this season. She ended the year on a seven-match winning streak in singles. In doubles, Irigoyen played each match but one at No. 2 doubles with Jimena Rivera Flores, with the duo carrying a record of 12-7 at No. 2 doubles, with an overall mark of 12-8.

Along with Irigoyen, Keiser University's Alexandra Melnikova, University of the Cumberlands' Marina Nagai, and Southeastern University's Martina Picardi are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® NAIA women's tennis team.  Nagai is a three-time selection.

Two of the 12 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women's tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school.   The six members of the first team have an average undergraduate GPA of 3.89.

The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 NAIA Academic All-America® program.

Marian finished the season with a 17-7 overall record, competing in the NAIA National Tournament Second Round.
