JACKSON, Mich. - On Monday the Crossroads League announced their Crossroads League Athletes of the Week, with the Marian women's track and field team earning a sweep for the honors as
Katie Woods earned the track honor and
Arriana Benjamin claimed the field award. Benjamin's Field Athlete of the Week is the 13th in her career and fourth for the 2023-24 season, while Woods' honor as Track Athlete of the Week is the first for her career.
Benjamin began outdoor season with a bang, as the senior and reigning CL & NAIA Champion earned wins each of her three events, taking first in shot put, discus, and hammer. Benjamin hit 2 NAIA A standards and one B standard, and is the lone CL thrower male of female with a standard mark in each of the three mainline throws.
Woods posted three wins on the track, three NAIA standards and one school record for Marian at the Montreat Open. Woods won the 1,500, 800 and 4x800-relay for the Knights, breaking the MU record in the 1,500.
Marian will host their annual Knight Open on Thursday, March 28. The meet begins around 11:00 a.m.
